Word was unable to use the template...
A "Word was unable to use the template" message can be shown by JCS when attempting to create a new document via the Document Register or when creating a new Profile Report. This will prevent the new document from being created.
The reason for the error may be given as:
- "Application-defined or object-defined error"
- "A file error has occurred"

This problem will occur whenever a new document is created from a template file on a network drive. i.e. if the JCS StandardDocumentsPath or ProfileReportsPath is set to a location on a network drive (which it normally is, so user's can share templates).
Solution
- Outside of JCS, open Word.
- Open a new blank document
- Go to File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Protected View
- Untick the option that says "Enable Protected View for files originating from the Internet"
- Click OK and close Word
- Close and restart JCS
Note, adding the location of the template files to Word's "Trusted Locations" does not fix this issue.
